Many families are missing out on thousands of pounds simply because they haven’t checked what they’re entitled to.

By taking a quick look today, you could unlock forgotten benefits, energy grants, and tax breaks that can really take the pressure off your finances. Officials from HM Revenue and Customs have issued a strong call to action for all individuals whose annual income falls below the £80,000 threshold, encouraging them to apply for a substantial government benefit that has the potential to increase their yearly household budget by thousands of pounds.

To help cover the ongoing expenses of bringing up a family, the government allows parents and guardians to claim Child Benefit, a form of financial support that can add up to thousands of pounds each year for households.

    What Are HMRC Payment Benefits?

Overseen by HMRC, this scheme grants a financial allowance for every child in your care under 16, or under 20 provided they remain in approved full-time education.
Alongside the financial assistance, claiming for a child under 12 automatically provides National Insurance credits, which help preserve your future State Pension entitlement.
These credits contribute to your State Pension and help avoid gaps in your record during periods when you are not working or earning enough to pay National Insurance.
This protects your future, ensuring you still qualify for a full pension when you retire.

How Much Is The HMRC Boost Child Payment?

    • At the current rates, you receive £26.05 per week for your first or only child, which amounts to £1,354.60 per year. For any additional children, the weekly payment is £17.25, equating to £897 annually for each child.
    • As a result, families with two children receive £2,251.60 a year, rising to £3,148.60 for those with three children.
    • Importantly, there is no limit on how many children you can claim for, aside from the overall Benefit Cap. As a result, families with four, five, or more children can receive well over £3,148, with a further £897 paid each year for every additional child.

Does HMRC Child Benefit Have A Limit on The Number of Children?

HM Revenue and Customs has circulated a reminder urging higher earners to secure this cash boost, emphasizing that it offers a valuable opportunity to access thousands of pounds in financial assistance each year. Writing on X, HMRC clarified that you are entitled to claim Child Benefit for every single child under your care, emphasizing that there is no restriction on the total number of children for whom you can receive support.

Parents and carers will find that the fastest and most convenient method for handling their Child Benefit, which includes claiming, checking, and managing payments, is to download the free and secure HMRC app.
If you are already receiving Child Benefit for your eldest, simply apply online to secure an additional £897 annually for every subsequent child added to your claim.

    Information About Child Benefit Applications

    • Parents receiving child benefits for the eldest child will receive an additional £897 per child per year.
    • Full child benefit entitlement applies if family income is £60,000 or less.
    • Parents must agree on the payment terms!
    • You are entitled to the full Child Benefit payment if you or your partner earn £60,000 or less annually, on the condition that the child lives with you or you financially contribute an amount equal to the benefit for their care.
    • Since the benefit is restricted to a single claimant, you must mutually agree on which parent or carer will submit the application and receive the payments.
